The International Statistical Institute (ISI) and the International Biometric Society (IBS) are jointly sponsoring an initiative to fund two young statisticians who are members of both Societies to participate in the 65th ISI World Statistics Congress at The Hague, 2025 (https://www.isi-next.org/conferences/isi-wsc2025/). There is a growing cohort of past award winners, or Young Ambassadors, who are helping to promote collaboration between young statisticians of the ISI and IBS. We invite you to become one of them!

For the purpose of this competition, a "young statistician" is defined as someone who has obtained his/her most recent statistics qualification in the last ten years, i.e. their PhD (or latest degree in statistics) was awarded after 1st January, 2016.

An applicant must be a member of IBS. However, those who are not already a member of the Society will be invited to join as part of this application for the award. And a successful applicant is expected to join the ISI as well.

Note that the IBS considers the Young Ambassadors Program to be open to all of our younger members who fit the date criteria, though we particularly encourage applicants from lower and middle-income countries to apply (see guideline here <https://data.worldbank.org/income-level/low-and-middle-income).

The documents required when applying for this award is as follows:

1) Applicants must submit a short paper (of 8-10 pages in length). If approved for the award, this abstract will serve as the basis for an in-person talk at the 2025 WSC.
2) Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae of at most two pages.
3) Applicants must submit a statement of up to 100 words indicating how participation in the ISI World Statistics Congress (WSC) 2025 will promote positive interaction between ISI and IBS and enhance the applicant's personal career. The statement may be sent in the body of the e-mail itself or sent as an attachment.
4) Proof of membership in both Societies OR a completed application in PDF format is required. Click here to download an IBS membership application.

To be considered eligible, the award application is due Friday, 16 May 2025. Applicants must send all documents listed above to the following e-mail addresses: isimail@cbs.nl, and ibs@biometricsociety.org. Materials should be sent in a single e-mail. The e-mail should also mention the applicant’s intent to apply for the IBS Young Ambassador to ISI Award.

Applicants will be considered by a joint ISI-IBS committee. Preference will be given to those who have not previously received funding from the ISI - IBS Young Ambassadors Joint Initiative. Ambassadors will receive free registration to the ISI WSC2025 conference and recognition in the ISI and Associations Award Brochure and Awards Ceremony.

The intention is to inform applicants of the decision on or before 16 June 2025.

We look forward to your participation!
